Carlton Volunteer Fire Department is one of the MANY Volunteer Departments that serve Texas! Crazy, right? Only around 30% of the Fire Departments in the entire state of Texas are paid- so maybe volunteering is something you could get into!
How to Volunteer:
There are so many ways to help out your local Fire Departments, and even get into one yourself!
Meet with the Officers on the Fire Department, and ask about ways you can help! Volunteer Departments are always looking for more people to help out, even if you aren't fully wanting to fight fires.
Check our Social Media posts and our website regularly! There is plenty of ways to contact us, donate (monetary, items, etc.), or even with helping to bring us water and snacks on those long fire scenes!
Come out to our fundraiser events! Help us get the word out, make donations, and meet the crew! The bigger attendance we have, the more we'll have for support when needed!
Interested in Joining the Fire Department?
Feel free to reach out to any of the Carlton VFD members to ask about it! We provide support to several other areas and counties, and respond to several big-scale events! Chalk Mountain Fire (2022), Panhandle Fire (2024), and even the Hill County Floods (2025) are all examples of some of the bigger events that we have sent crews to assist on! There is always something to do, and yes- we provide almost all training in-house.
Our Crew:
Carlton VFD may seem small- but don't let that fool you. Our crew can do some pretty crazy things, and have specializations from all over! Between everyone, we have several people with some pretty amazing qualifications that even you could work into as well!
Structural/Interior Firefighting
Search and Rescue (SAR)
Confined Spaces Tactical Rescues
Extrication
Swiftwater Rescue
Wildland Firefighting
EMT/Paramedic
And so much more!
